Innes McCartney has run several expeditions to locate and film some of the U-boats scuttled during 'Operation Deadlight'. A PRESS RELEASE written at the conclusion of this first successful expedition can be seen here

DIVE 1 - U218

 DIVE 2 -U2511 

Adi Schnee's U2511, the only Type XXI to approach an allied convoy! What a treat this one was. Diving report and history of the U-boat can be read here

DIVE 3 - U1003 (exU743) A new war-grave is discovered

PLEASE NOTE: Dr Niestle and Innes McCartney now believe this is actually the wreck of U1003, which was also sunk in this area.

This wreck has been identified by Axel Niestle as U743, (see above) using the information gathered on our dives to the wreck. U743 was previously thought to have been lost by unknown causes. The damage to the submarine clearly shows that she was struck by a ship while using her schnorchel and attack periscope. Diving report and history of the U-boat can be read here

DIVE 4 - U1014 Another war-grave 

Although this wreck is known about, it had never been filmed or surveyed. Diving report and history of the U-boat can be read here

DIVE 5 - U778? 

The most intact conning tower Innes has ever seen on a U-boat wreck - incredible. Diving report and history of the U-boat can be read here

DIVE 6 - U281?

DIVE 7 - U155 

Pienings' U155, a key expedition target and an excellent dive. This is one of the most successful U-boats to be sunk buring Operation Deadlight. Diving report and history of the U-boat can be read here
