C.W. Burrows was cashier of the naval base at Scapa Flow from 1915-1920. Intimate with much of the wartime history of the base and its people, he compiled a unique photographic record of Scapa during World War One and beyond.
The book encompasses some remarkable photos of the Royal Navy at Scapa showing the day-to-day aspects of base life as well as its magnificent fleet. The scuttling of the German High Seas Fleet is depicted with an excellent collection of images. Burrows also captured the life of the local population at a time of rapid change. Scapa and a Camera is a truly unique window into a bygone world.
